Last week Günther Thallinger, Board member at the world's largest insurance company, Allianz in Germany (€2.448 trillion assets under management, amazingly modest headquarters photographed below), posted on LinkedIn that climate change is poised to so disrupt insurance that capitalism is unable to function.

Thallinger concludes: "The good news: we already have the technologies to switch from fossil combustion to zero-emission energy. The only thing missing is speed and scale. And the understanding that this is not about saving the planet. This is about saving the conditions under which markets, finance, and civilization itself can continue to operate."

The Guardian wrote about the post today. I thought it notable.

And now, our daily summaries of nearly 200 selected updates from around the world of green tech and sustainability.
