From the Editor
Sometimes, maybe all the time, it takes a crisis to motivate big change.
Even a great new opportunity isn't always motivation enough for people, organization, and societies to change.
As Dr. Elizabeth Sawin of the Multisolving Institute recently said on a call with RegenIntel: all the best examples of communities bringing together all stakeholders to kick off big projects that built resilience and solved a long list of ecological and social problems - like the Japanese community she studied that rapidly transformed their energy infrastructure after the Fukishima nuclear disaster - all the examples her team could find came about in response to a crisis.
The politics of sustainability in the United States right now is certainly a crisis, at least on the federal level. Globally, that crisis could end up motivating some great work in transformation. May Europe, and the rest of the world, rise to the opportunity. Today's top stories just happen to all point in that direction.
