A child born today is expected to endure on average 7X more floods, fires, and storms than one born in 1960. The accelerating pace of disasters is already baked into the climate curve, and a new Lancet study from the University of Melbourne deepens the picture: while communities often rebound from a single calamity, mental-health scores keep sliding when a second and third arrive within a few years.
The solution is targeted investments in social and ecological resilience, in key communities experiencing compounding factors, including a history of disasters, co-designed with those communities themselves. Join me on this LinkedIn post for a detailed discussion of the data-informed, co-created, resilience opportunity. If you post a comment there, more people will see it.
And now, our daily summaries of (today) 224 selected updates from around the world of green tech and sustainability.
